Alberto's "Barn Fresh" Black Shadow - Pre-Restoration
This 1949 Series B Black Shadow, engine number F10AB/1B/1870, was recently purchased on Ebay by Lone Star section member Alberto. Its price stirred some discussion, since as you can see it needs a bit of work. Still, it's an extremely rare machine - only 76 were made, according to the VOC Machine Registrar. The Series B Vincents were replaced by Series C models, with Girdraulic forks and other changes, not long after the Black Shadow was introduced.Works records indicate it was shipped to dealer John Esler in Grand Rapids, Michigan during April 1949. The engine is said to be mentioned in Dennis Minett's notebooks (Dennis made racing modifications to Vincents at the factory).
